Penang National Park main entrance at Teluk Bahang
Last week, I had the opportunity to participate in the Save Turtles program in Taman Negara Pulau Pinang or Penang National Park.
Do anyone know where is Penang National Park? Well…let me explains further.

Penang National Park is located at the northwest corner of Penang island. The main entrance to the park is located near to the fishing village in Teluk Bahang and about an hour drive from town or about 45 minutes if you drive a bit faster.
Alternatively, you can take RapidPenang bus no.U101 from Komtar Bus Terminal to the Penang National Park.
The second entrance point is via boat at Kuala Sungai Pinang in Balik Pulau district. Most visitors including me will enter the park via the main entrance, which is at the Teluk Bahang side. The main entrance landscape had over the years transformed into a beautiful place. Below picture is best to describe how nice the place is.

A big auditorium and a nice woody type reception area for visitors to register.
Visitors need to register before and after enter the park at the reception area . It is free of charge. All you need to do is to keep the entrance ticket for validation purposes when you are inside the park.
Time has changed the place, indeed. It looks nicer and comfortable.

If you look out to the sea when you arrive at the main entrance, you will get a nice view of the jetties. This is the place where the fishing boats dock. It is also the place for visitors to take boat to Teluk Duyung, Teluk Ketapang, Pantai Kerachut and Teluk Kampi as well to Kuala Sungai Pinang, if my memory serves me right.

I guess the new jetty is purposely build to greet visitors as most of the fisherman or locals use the old jetty or another one located further a bit from the 1st and the 2nd jetty.

If you are tired, you can always take a seat on the marble chair along the new jetty. This new jetty is quite long. I took about 10 or 15 minutes to walk from one end to the other end. Just imagine how long it is.

On the left is the old jetty, where I used to walk along it when I was small. Guess, how many years was that?

The fishing boats was docking at the jetty in early morning when I captured this picture.

My photo shooting of the jetty ended when it was time to hike to Pantai Kerachut with a mission to save the turtles.
So stay tune for more info and pictures on turtles especially the baby turtles in my next post.

Christy - yeah.. not many penangites know about this tiny national park. I guess it leave to us to promote to them and the rest of the world.
Oh.. not great pics..just soo..soo.. pics.
Criz Lai - aiya..you should tell me. I can be a part time guide to bring visitors into the park.
blah blah king - no problem. It is my duty to promote the attraction places in Penang. Indeed, Teluk Bahang is a nice place though a bit far. I like the simple and relax lifestyle compared to the rat race I’m in now.
